Privacy

Short version: we count visits so we know which guides are worth writing. There are no accounts here, we never ask you for personal information, and we do not sell anything on this site.

What we collect

We use PostHog, a product analytics service, on every page. It records:

• Pages you visit on this site, and when
• The page or search that sent you here, and any campaign tags on the link
• Clicks and other interactions with page elements. Form field contents are not captured — there are no forms on this site anyway
• Browser, operating system, device type, screen size and language
• Your IP address, which PostHog uses to derive an approximate location (typically city level) and which is stored with the event
• A randomly generated identifier so repeat visits from the same browser can be counted as one visitor

We do not use session recording, so we are not replaying your screen. We never call PostHog's identify function, so events are not attached to a named person — we have no way to know who you are.

Cookies and local storage

PostHog stores the random identifier described above in a cookie on this domain (named ph_<project key>_posthog) and mirrors it in your browser's local storage. That is the only cookie this site sets. Clearing site data for fake-cam.com removes it, and you will simply be counted as a new visitor next time.

Where the data goes

PostHog Inc. processes it on our behalf on their US cloud infrastructure. We do not share it with anyone else, and we do not run advertising or advertising trackers on this site.

Links to CamLooper

This site is published by the makers of CamLooper (see About). Links from here to camlooper.com carry a campaign tag so we can see how many people followed them. Once you are on camlooper.com you are covered by that site's privacy policy, which is separate from this one.

The download itself is hosted by us; no third party is involved in serving it.

Opting out

Blocking cookies for this domain, using your browser's tracking protection, or any of the common content blockers will stop the analytics script from loading or from storing anything. The site works exactly the same either way — nothing here is gated behind analytics.

Your rights, and getting data removed

Because we never collect a name, email address or account, we usually cannot connect stored events to a specific person on request. If you believe we hold data about you and you want it removed, email hello@camlooper.com with enough detail to locate it (for example an approximate date and page) and we will delete what we can identify.

If you are in the EU, UK or California and want to exercise a right under GDPR, UK GDPR or the CCPA, use the same address and we will respond.

Changes

If we start collecting something materially different — session recordings, a newsletter, advertising — this page will say so before it happens.
